Agri-Tour Introduces the EU–Pacific HEI Alliance
Within the AGRI-TOUR project, a new strategic platform – the EU–Pacific International Office Task Force – has been established, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation between universities in the European Union and Pacific countries.
The newly created alliance connects universities from the EU (Slovakia, Italy, Czech Republic) with higher education institutions from Fiji, Samoa and Vanuatu. Its aim is to create a stable framework for:
joint courses and shared study modules,
research collaboration and scientific publications,
student and staff mobility,
capacity building and development of joint grant projects,
supporting agritourism, food security, and sustainable development in the Pacific.
By signing the Charter of the EU–Pacific International Office Task Force, partners formally confirmed their commitment to continue cooperation even after the completion of the AGRI-TOUR project.
The EU–Pacific International Office Task Force document defines key functions, including:
coordination of joint courses and professional training,
support for academic mobility,
development of joint research initiatives,
preparation of new international projects,
sharing of know-how between the EU and the Pacific.
The alliance is built on principles of:
inclusion and equal access,
academic freedom,
sustainability and environmental protection,
respect for cultural diversity,
upholding European values in international cooperation.
Long-term Impact
By signing the Charter, partners committed to integrating the outcomes of the Task Force into their institutional structures and continuing:
development of joint study programmes,
implementation of international projects,
