A New Knowledge Hub for Sustainable Gastronomy, Agritourism, and Local Food Systems

The Agri Tour project the launches the Agri Tour Digital Library, one of the key outputs of the Agri Tour project supporting sustainable agrifood systems and the development of agritourism across the Pacific. The digital library was created in response to the growing need for accessible, high-quality, and practice-oriented educational materials for universities, professionals, and the wider public.

The platform is open to universities, students, researchers, tourism professionals, agricultural practitioners, gastronomic experts, and anyone interested in sustainability and local development. Its purpose is to simplify access to expert knowledge, strengthen cooperation between the EU and Pacific countries, and offer a space where project findings can be collected, shared, and further developed.

The Digital Library currently includes complete presentations from the Capacity Building programmes in Fiji and Samoa, focusing on topics such as:

  • sustainable gastronomy,

  • the economic and cultural contribution of agritourism,

  • EU policies relevant to regional and rural development,

  • building resilient local food systems,

  • linking agriculture and tourism in the context of climate and societal change.

These materials are designed to support teaching, professional training, and self-study in the Pacific region, while also serving as inspiration for international partners.

We are now finalising the video versions of all courses, which will soon be available to universities, professionals, and the general public. These videos will complement the presentations with visual and practical demonstrations that educators and practitioners can use directly in teaching or in developing local initiatives.

You can explore the Digital Library here: www.agri-tour.eu/digital-library.

By launching the Agri Tour Digital Library, the project reinforces its role in strengthening educational and innovation capacities in Pacific Island countries, and in supporting sustainable development. We believe the library will become a valuable resource of knowledge, inspiration, and collaboration for everyone working on the future of agrifood systems and tourism in the region.
