The AgriTour Capacity Building Week in Samoa has officially begun!

The first day of the AGRI-TOUR mission in Samoa was dedicated to building connections, sharing knowledge, and learning together across institutions from Europe and the Pacific.

The delegation began the day at the USP Samoa Campus, where representatives of the university extended a warm welcome. Discussions focused on future cooperation in education and agritourism, highlighting USP’s commitment to integrating sustainability and practical learning. The visit also included a tour of the university farm β€” a place where students apply theoretical knowledge in real-life agricultural production and sustainable food systems. The team then met with Mr. Luaiaufi Aiono, ACEO of the Agriculture Management Project Division, and Mr. Darius Tofa, Agriculture Officer. The meeting focused on opportunities to enhance agricultural innovation, strengthen local community engagement, and support capacity building in sustainable agritourism in Samoa.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the National University of Samoa (NUS), where they were warmly welcomed by the university leadership and academic staff. The discussions centred on the shared vision of advancing sustainable development, education, and collaboration between European and Pacific universities under the AGRI-TOUR framework.

The day concluded with a consortium meeting at NUS, where partners reviewed the upcoming Capacity Building sessions and coordinated the next steps in joint research and training activities. These sessions will play a key role in transferring knowledge and Green Deal principles into the Pacific context. πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΌπŸ‡Έ

The AGRI-TOUR consortium expresses its sincere gratitude to the teams at USP and NUS for their exceptional hospitality and organisation, which made this first day in Samoa both productive and inspiring.
