Agri Tour
The Agriculture-Tourism Alliance – From Farm to Fork Strategy applied in the Pacific Island Countries

Connecting Agriculture, Tourism, and Education Across Continents Works
Agri Tour is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project that brings together universities and communities from the European Union and Pacific Island Countries to develop green, sustainable, and inclusive agri-tourism education and practices. Inspired by the Farm to Fork Strategy and the European Green Deal, the project promotes knowledge exchange, joint research, student mobility, and digital learning.
By strengthening university-industry cooperation, Agri Tour empowers future professionals to shape resilient food and tourism systems in harmony with local traditions and ecological values.

Why Agri Tour Matters
Although Pacific Island Countries contribute just 0.014% of global greenhouse gas emissions, they are among the first to face the harsh impacts of climate change, particularly due to rising sea levels.
The AGRI-TOUR project aims to enhance the capacity of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the EU and the Pacific to promote the principles of the European Green Deal and foster sustainable solutions through agritourism.
The project focuses on integrating agriculture and tourism through innovative curricula, joint research, and capacity building that connects academic knowledge with real-world challenges.
Who We Are
The AGRI-TOUR consortium includes 8 partners from Slovakia, Italy, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Fiji – including 6 HEIs, 1 NGO, 1 SME, and 4 newcomer institutions. Together, we bridge continents to create sustainable education ecosystems rooted in local values and global strategies.
What We Do
AGRI-TOUR delivers:
4 Capacity Building Programmes for academic staff, held in Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Italy, and Slovakia, involving 16 educators per edition.
Each programme includes training for 50+ local university students (total minimum: 250 students, gender-balanced), combined with 5 Final Multiplier Events both in-person and online.
A new EU-Pacific HEI Alliance, including an International Offices Task Force and a Joint Research Study with 400 participants on implementing the Green Deal in the Pacific.
A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with 8 multidisciplinary modules for students in remote island regions, designed for faculties of agriculture, tourism, and gastronomy, tested with 800 students.
An Internship Protocol aimed at bridging the gap between research and practice in sustainable agriculture and tourism, tested with 48 student-enterprise pairs (96 participants).
